NORTH COAST PROVINCIAL LEAGUE, TEZO STARS V/S GORILLA F.C MATCH REPORT AS AT 29TH JUNE, 2013 AT (WITU) LAMU COUNTY
The days average weather condition
The day was hot and humid and the blue sky promised fireworks at the green grassed pitch of Witu primary school. Temperatures were at 25 degrees Celsius.
Teams’ arrival
Tezo stars honored the match by arriving at Witu at noon three hours earlier after 230 kilometers drive. They all looked happy after the long adventurous journeys. Most gorilla fans and players were certain of the days match fixture. “Welcome, you will reside in one of the rooms at the school before kickoff” Said the team Manager Gorilla football club. The boys returned to bus after the changing room orientation to be driven a kilometer away in the commercial town for lunch. Here all the sports tourists took their favorite food chapatti on beans. This was the only affordable food for the boys slim wallets. The boys found their way into the town streets and most of them purchased mangoes the only commodity that was cheap in town. They lamented on the high prices of merchandise and services in town being double the prices back home. The beautiful scenario of springs, swamps and river tributaries at the outskirts of the town still lingers much in the domestic tourists to be desired.
At the dressing room
At 1415 hours the boys were dressing up ready for their mission. They put on their popular blue Manchester united away kit that made them look like glomming blue flowers on green (sinde mondo) grass as they stretched ready for the kick start. The gorilla side wore the famous blue sky of Manchester city and the Manchester derby at the Etihad stadium looked to be the hot cake for dinner.

Interviewing the tezo stars captain.
Victor (Ikpeba) Ruwa; Captain Michael, what do you think the result will be after this long tedious journey.
Michael Baya; well, we have a mission to become proud of our selves after this match, oh! We are optimistic!
Arrival of the referee.
The only match referee surfaced. While the most recent federations circular stipulated clearly that there would be four officials, Tezo stars gave in to playing after consulting the North Coast Provincial League Headquarters in Malindi.
Pre match session.
The referee conducted the pre match inspection. At the coin toss, the Gorilla team captain won. He chose to kick start the ball while Tezo stars played from North to South of the field of play. Gorilla started brightly with their central striker making a solo run passed two players but was fouled by Scholes forty yards to the Tezo Stars goal mouth. A fast restart was intercepted by the missionaries and the resultant counter attack forced the gorilla center half to a careless tackle just at Bernard’s position. Bernard, Tonihno and Sylvester animated the free kick. As the other boys insisted to get the passes, Bernard drove a powerful short to the bottom right hand Conner for the opener.
Commentary
Goal! Goal!!! An early goal for the visitors! Should be the fastest goal of the league at the dying seconds of the first minute.
Bernard celebrated in his trade mark diamond sigh which most locals associate it as an illuminate sigh.
Re start after the first goal
It looked to be a bitter pill to swallow to the gorilla family and they showed real intention to console their fans as they mounted pressure on the Tezo stars goal area. Tezo stars composed themselves and absorbed the threat amounted. As Anthony –the dribbling wizard showed what he is made of; he was summoned by the referee. The team captain went to hear the verdict. They were all astonished when the referee flashed yellow cards to them. As Anthony was moving away he was recalled for a second yellow card and a red card. The gorilla fans up lauded their “twelfth player”. Some Tezo stars fans couldn’t stomach the decision and their bowing resulted to “Zico” the diehard Tezo stars fan red carded. As the referee threatened to end the match, Ikpeba begged not and escorted the boys into the bus. A strong challenge on Sylvester Kombe was waved on as the boy lay on grass crying in agony. He was carried off the field of play. After the first aid we leant he was savior injured. The medical staff advised he be taken to the hospital. Desmond Fondo came for injured tall sticker. Michael Baya advised his descendants to calm down and carry the cross to Golgotha. Harry, the team coach introduced some technical advice to suit the one man down. The gorillas were at the receiving end and were lucky as Desmond and Edward were denied by the acrobatic Gorilla custodian. The half time whistle was blown to the rescue of the fatigued gorillas.
Half time session
“We will win this match only if we will be bold and be displined. We need to love and tolerate the referee. He will decide the outcome yes but we tame him for our mercy. We need to defend well to attack well”, advised the Tactician.
Second half restart
Tezo stars were again a handful to the primates. Tumaini and Alex labored so well in the midfield as the gorilla tactics proved inefficient. George was the hard nut to crack. He played the superman role for an impermeable defense, outpacing any gorilla out to course mess. Bernard could have compounded more misery to the hosts as his trade mark volley went off an inch to make it two nil. A dubious tackle on Desmond saw the gorillas even the Tezo players.
Commentary
The adrenaline is now normal after acidity levels went high, Relief to the visitors. A long clearance by the stout gorilla defender to the unmarked plumb sticker who scored to the delight of the home fans.
Tezo restarted the ball with a real impact forcing a reckless tackle on Edward for a red card-a second the gorilla team. As the visitors graced, the referee blew the final whistle ten minutes to time. One-one draw was the final score line.
